Magic Ring

The magic ring is a method used to start crocheting in the round (vs. rows), especially for amigurumi. The magic rings allows for the starting loop to be adjusted and closed tight, which prevents any stuffing from showing. I am working with single crochets in this example.

  • If you look closely at photo #7, you can see how the tail is wrapped up in the ring. Once you unwind it, it should look like photo #8.
  • Continue in the round or slip stitch to join, depending on your work.

It took a few tries to get the hang of this method. I was actually resistant to learning until I started making amigurumi.
